Carbon composites course

Processing technique with Easypreg carbon composites and
use of the Vacum Pressform system

Composite materials and advanced orthopaedic applications

The training course is designed to provide in-depth technical expertise on the processing of carbon composites applied to technical orthopaedics, with a focus on the manufacture of orthotic devices and orthotic insoles for joint support, postural correction and patient rehabilitation. During the day, the main composite materials were analysed, including carbon fibres, glass fibres and polyamide fibres, comparing mechanical characteristics, strength and elasticity. A specific focus was devoted to composite Easypreg and different construction techniques, offering participants a comprehensive and knowledgeable view of the application possibilities in the laboratory.

From theory to practice with the Vacum Pressform system

A central element of the course was the practical approach, which enabled participants to deepen their use of the Vacum Pressform for vacuum thermoforming. After a technical explanation of machine operation and set-up, the training developed through operational activities in the laboratory, with the fabrication of a complete orthosis, from model survey to the preparation and processing of materials. Practical exercises made it possible to translate theory into concrete competence, fostering a direct understanding of production processes and consolidating the skills required for effective use of the technologies illustrated. The day ended with a final verification of learning, valid for the recognition of CME credits.
