Transtibial prosthesis evaluation and design

The seminar is designed to provide orthopaedic technicians with advanced theoretical and practical skills in the fabrication of transtibial prostheses, with particular attention to the principles of comfort, tightness and functionality of the device. During the training course, the study of the amputated limb, the analysis of delicate areas and the functional assessment of the patient, considering posture, load and mobility, were explored in depth. Ample space was given to dedicated to prosthesis design, the choice of modular components and the understanding of the most effective technical solutions to ensure correct adaptation to the stump and optimal functionality over time.

Prosthesis modelling, lamination and functional testing

A central element of the course was the intensive, practical approach, developed through all the operational steps in the construction of the transtibial prosthesis. The participants worked on taking measurements and making the plaster cast, anatomical-functional modelling and the construction of the carbon-fibre socket using vacuum lamination techniques. The course was completed with the fitting of the prosthesis, static and dynamic alignment, assisted walking tests and gait analysis, allowing theory to be translated into concrete expertise. The direct confrontation with the lecturers and the practical exercises fostered an in-depth understanding of production processes and application solutions, concluding the seminar with a final examination and the recognition of CME credits.
